Haunted by the past, hopeful for the future
Years of political turmoil and civil war have marred Serbia's reputation with the travelling public, which is a shame. A wonderful country to explore in terms of history, culture, and natural splendour, it remains a largely untapped destination. The disputed region of Kosovo remains off-limits, but the lush plains of the north and lively Belgrade offer plenty for curious travellers to admire. Here's hoping peace comes to this misunderstood land fast in order that more outsiders can come to experience its treasures.
