Visual Adventure: Sailing Cuba
Join G Adventures' very own Sara Tkaczyk in hopping over the resort wall and get to know Cuba like you never have before — on a catamaran!
The island of Cuba—with its vibrant rhythms, varied landscape, and rich heritage of literature and dance—wins over many travellers, who return again and again to the largest island in the Caribbean (usually to all-inclusive resorts). And though, the country has been a magnet for sun-seeking resort holidays for some time, it’s just now opening up to less-traditional travel—like sailing!
I’ve always found it odd that the brochures call them “all-inclusive resorts,” when they exclude Cuba’s best parts! So, join me in hopping over the wall and get to know Cuba like you never have before—on a catamaran! Check out massive flocks of flamingos and parrots, snorkel the crystal-clear waters in search of colourful fish, relax on the beach, and dine on some of the best seafood you’ll ever have. That’s the level of ‘all-inclusive’ I’ve come to expect — and I don’t try to leave anything out!
Sit back and soak up the sun, jump into the turquoise water and discover a wealth of fish and corals, relax at beautifully white and secluded beaches, enjoy spontaneous salsa lessons with locals and savour fresh seafood! Only a couple of islands in the Canarreos Archipelago are inhabited and this nature reserve has yet to be discovered by most tourists—so you'll find yourself free to explore!
